Christmas ‘Goodies’

The Refuge remains open between Christmas and New Year’s. During this time many of us provide ‘goodies’ to family and friends as they drop by our homes. The Refuge would like to do the same for the youth at The Refuge with special foods like waffles and whipped cream for Christmas Eve Breakfast, chocolates, special lunches, egg nog, oliebollen (a dutch donut tradition for New Year’s Eve) and the like. Please consider providing Christmas ‘Goodies’ for one youth, for 10 youths or for 40 youths.
Description
Christmas can often be a cold and lonely time. For many of the youth coming to The Refuge, Christmas reminds them of rejection by family and the fact that they are alone. Most of the youth at The Refuge do not like the Christmas season since it brings to light the abuse, conflict and abandonment that has shadowed their lives.
During the Christmas season The Refuge seeks to be a place of love and encouragement; to be a ‘home’ for the youth where they experience the unconditional love of the very first Christmas that took place hundreds of years ago.
